A Work of Art - Made for Life!
Current Designs, builders of premier kayaks for 25 years
Brian Henry founded Current Designs in 1982 out of a deep passion for kayaking. Growing up on Canada's West Coast with its deep fjords and vast island archipelagos Brian was drawn to its sheer natural beauty and became an avid kayaker.
Brian's creative talents really emerged when he decided to design a new wave of kayaks for today's paddler. The rediscovery of kayak touring around the world has been inspired by the artistry and innovation of Brian Henry and others like him.
Current Designs' voyage in development has been an exciting one and has drawn us beyond the horizons of innovation and design. Current Designs has been sought out by some of the best kayak designers in the world to bring their designs to life for this ever-changing market. Such respected names as the legendary British designer Derek Hutchinson, Barry Buchanan, a well-known New England designer, and Olympic Champion Greg Barton, have all worked with the Current Designs design team. As a result, Current Designs has become one of the most diverse and sought after line of touring kayaks available anywhere.
Current Designs and Wenonah Canoe have cooperated closely for many years, and a result of this on-going relationship is that Wenonah Canoe acquired the Current Designs company in 1999. In June of 2004, construction began on our new 45,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Winona, Minnesota, home of Wenonah Canoe. In November of '04, we moved kayak production to the new location where we build Current Designs kayaks using traditional composite construction, rotomolding and our new Thermoformed Composite System (TCS™). The move to our new Riverbend Kayak Facility has resulted in more production capacity, improved distribution and streamlined business operations.
We're dedicated to providing the finest designs and highest quality products in the paddlesports industry. We invite you to embark on a voyage of discovery in a Current Designs kayak knowing that you are in one of the finest crafts on the water. |
